Description:

Climate protection and the adaptation of forests to climate change are national tasks of interest to society as a whole. The preservation of forests as important carbon stores and sustainable forest management are of particular importance. In order to support forest owners in mastering this task, the federal government created the "Climate-Adapted Forest Management" grant. The purpose of the grant is the preservation, development and management of forests that are adapted to climate change (climate resilient). Only climate-resilient forests are permanently able to fulfill the other ecosystem services (e.g. protection of biodiversity, recreation of the population, provision of other public welfare services and the provision of raw wood) in addition to the CO2 binding in forests and wood.
